No company is an island in the battle against climate change

The earth is suffering and needs our immediate help. That was underscored again recently when the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report warned that global warming of 1.5°C and 2°C will be exceeded by 2100 without deep reductions in greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) in the coming decades, with heat extremes potentially reaching critical tolerance thresholds for agriculture and health.

The good news is that businesses are beginning to demonstrate leadership in tackling the climate challenges ahead. About 80% of major international companies now report on sustainability, and thousands of enterprises have committed to net-zero emissions by 2050 through initiatives such as the Race to Zero and Business Ambition for 1.5°C. AVEVA is aligned to the highest level of ambition for climate targets, with a commitment to the Scope 3 standard comprising both direct and indirect emissions.

While individual companies must each do their part, only collaborative action will achieve the critical mass necessary to realize Net Zero and go beyond to climate positivity. Working together will allow us to prevent global catastrophe on an even wider scale than we have seen this year.
